How much do you sit? (And does it really kill?) – Yes. – And I was recently honored to speak about it at UBS. – A meta analysis of 13 studies found that sitting 8 hours a day is just as risky as smoking or being obese. – And…the same study found that just an hour of moderate exercise a day can offset this risk. – But you don’t get off that easy… because another study found that 10 hours a day of sitting still indicates damage to heart tissue (troponjns in blood), and yet another found that it thins the part of the brain necessary for memory – the medial temporal lobe – something that is associated with cognitive decline, #dementia and #Alzheimers! – And even if it doesn’t kill you, it will still “kill:” sitting a lot will wreak havoc on your body—from your neck to your shoulders and your back. – I’ll post on how to remedy the orthopedic aches and pains soon, but in the meantime, stand up! (Just drink a lot of water…it’ll force you to get up, I promise ????????????)
